Today, residents of Kabarondo sector and area celebrated the grand opening of the Kabura Health Centre, a new long-term care facility in the community.
“We are pleased to see this exciting step forward in improving long-term care infrastructure in our sector,” Yohani Muhashyi, a resident said. “It is our government’s priority to ensure long-term care residents have a safe and comfortable place to live”
Before it was built, residents had to walk or be carried by stretcher 30 kilometers to receive medical care.
“This health post will have a huge impact—it will help reduce risky at-home deliveries and improve access to antenatal care. For thousands of people, this health post will lift the burden of having to walk hours to manage something like a respiratory infection” says Jean Paul Mbarushimana of Kabura cell.
